Here is a direct comparison to the previously posted .357 Mag. Snubby Chrono tests ( .357 Mag. 2&1/8" S&W model 640 revolver) vs velocity for .357 Mag 4" S&W Model 65 revolver. Again distance was 10ft. and Temp. approx. 40 degrees. Same test boxes of .357 Mag. ammo used in both tests. Thought it would be easier to read this way without jumping back and forth.
1. CorBon 110 gr. JHP ( Snubby = 1189 fps) ( 4" = 1268 fps)
2. Federal 110 gr. JHP (Snubby = 1199 fps) ( 4" = 1284 fps) (Classic)
3. Remington 125 gr. JHP ( Snubby =1301 fps) ( 4" = 1519 fps) * this box was seemed above avg. speed for 125 gr.* I'm Keeping rest of it! I thought it would chrono around 1450 fps
4. Federal 125 gr. JHP (Snubby = 1236 fps) ( 4" = 1460 fps ) (Classic)
5. Remington 158 gr. JHP ( Snubby = 1158 fps) ( 4" = 1267 fps )
6. Federal 158 gr. JHP (Snubby = 1124 fps) ( 4" = 1261 fps ) (Classic)
7. Remington 180 gr. JHP (Snubby = 1034 fps) ( 4" = 1173 fps )
8. Winchester 180 gr. JHP (Snubby = 1092 fps) ( 4" = 1210 fps ) (Ranger SXT)
*Velocity may vary according to test weapon, lot of ammo, temp. and other factors*. This is what I recorded at that particular time.

Pitbull, was the Corbon 110 load the older one? The newer one shows "1500" fps on the box. I'm planning on chronoing that and some others out of 2", 4" and 16" barrels in a month or two.

BobM77, The Corbon 110 gr. must be the older one, it's lists velocity at 1350 fps on box. Easy on the hand out of snubby and easy to control. Ammo is a couple of years old. Let us know what ya wring out of the newer box. Thanks.

That Box of Remington 125g stuff you have is pretty hot stuff. Not even 357Sig approaches those numbers. I've been carrying W-W 145 Sivertip 357 in my Mod 649 lately. But after seeing that both 125gr rds you chrono'd hit 1200fps from a snubby I may change back. Thanks, Jim |

When I had an SP101, 2 1/8th inch barrel, I carried the newer Cor-Bon 110's, they got my attention but were not unpleasant by any means.

too much of a good thing for me in a .357 snub since arthur and the ritis family moved in. Got several boxes of CB 158gr lhp +p+ and waiting to see how some new loads work out.

Thanks Pitbull for the great information. That Cor-Bon 110-gr peformance seems more in line with Cor-Bon 110-gr 38 spl +P, which gives 1250 fps out a 4-in barrel. If it is, I've shot it and it doesn't feel that much gentler and kinder than mid-range .357--I took to calling it my 9-mm revolver load and it is my preferred load for my 4-in K-frame .38 spl.

The results for the Federal and Remington 125gr. JHPs are pretty much what I get in my 2.75" S&W 686 Effector. I wish they still made the Remington 140gr. SJHP. It got about 1300 from the same gun. Still have some, but its ten years old!
