Henry announced a new rifle, it's side loader in pistol calibers: 38/357, 44 mag/special, & 45 (Long) Colt. But they are calling it "Big Boy X".

It doesn't have wood furniture, which is a shame IMO Henry since they usually have pretty nice wood for mass production rifle, but does have rail and couple of m lock slots so mounting a light would be easy.

Their websites says 17.4" barrel and 7 rounds, think it's 7+1 rounds.

It still is loadable and unloadable via the mag tube, which I like for administrative clearing.

I've been waiting for a 357 magnum side loader, think it will make a nifty home or homestead (chicken coop etc) defense rifle that's more aesthetically pleasing than the AR (I have AR & respect their capabilities just don't like them).

I have a Big Boy in 38/357 I purchased 4 years ago. The one I have does not have the side load gate. It is one of the favorites of my collection. My kids want to shoot it every time they come in to visit. The one I have feeds both 38Spl and 357 without any problems. It has the brass around the chamber and is a beautiful rifle. One thing I told my kids is, "Don't be afraid to wrack the lever hard, you won't break the rifle. It works every time. I really like it for plinking myself.

I do like the side load gate, but don't see where I would need it to reload the rifle in a fight. The tube is great for unloading without having to cycle all the ammo through the receiver to get them out. They are fun rifles to have and shoot accurately at distance. Tt fill the purposes well for what I purchased it for. Get-chee-one!
