I recently saw a comment in a user rating of an online ammo distributor that Federal 9mm FDLE +P+ no longer had sealed primers. The remark was apparently based on the fact that the white box ammo produced in the last 12+ years doesn't use the old red sealant.
Last week my wife was closing a pasture gate and found in the mud, a stainless steel S&W 3904 magazine I'd been missing since last March. It was "disassembled" with the baseplate off. It has been buried in dirt for 11 months. Six rounds of FDLE were in the mud or wedged in the magazine tube body. The mag and cartridges had been in all kinds of weather, runover with tailor loads of hay, tractors and PU trucks for almost a year.
The good news: after flushing and cleaning the mag parts, I was able to reassemble the magazine and reload the rounds into it. I put on my safety gear and tried out my handiwork. All the rounds fired and cycled the S&W 39-2 I used for the test flawlessly.
