I always use a private carrier. UPS or Fed expr. (NEVER use the post office)

I pack it secure as possible, and field stripped with plenty off bubble wrap so nothing bounces around. I overnight it to myself at the hotel, and I make it a point to talk to management at the hotel to expect a pkg for me. I use the hotel closest to the airport if possible. Going to a private residence, I send it to myself in care of my buddy who lives at the residence.

I first did this in the early 90's and have done it at least a dozen and a half times since. Only once have I ever been asked the contents and my answer was " macheine parts" (which is basically true since the gun is not fully assembled)

I have never not had the package there waiting for me.
On the trip home, same thing in reverse.

I have never lost a package this way.

As long as you use a PRIVATE carrier and as long as you can legaly possess it at your destination, it is in compliance.

Fed express has varied their rules over the years and UPS seems to be ok last time I checked, however I couldn't care less what their rules may or may not be, I care only what the LAW says.

If my only choice was a loaded .25 or an unloaded .45, I would choose the empty .45. They both have the same stopping power, but the empty 1911 looks a lot more convincing and makes a better club.
