Hickock45 on You Tube just posted a 15-minute video on the differences between the original Colt M1911 and the 1911A1 'upgraded' version introduced in the 1920's; using the guns to show them.

This is stuff that I expect many of y'all already know--- I'd be very surprised if Jim H. learned anything new--- but I did learn some things I hadn't known before about the differences between the two.

It may surprise some to find that Hickock 45 and I share the same last name.

I've never met him but considering he is from TN and my family came up through there I'd guess we are somehow related.

Seems like a nice guy and is indeed quite knowledgeable.

I'll try to look up his video on the 1911.

What is a bit surprising to some is that there is quite a bit of difference from the guns made in 1912 and the guns made in 1918 - but only in the parts not the basic gun.

Hi Jim I always pictured you as wearing a bowler hat and a monocle,. You and wild Bill are both named Jim. I was briefly give that "moniker" after drilling a silhouette target through the "noggin" at 75 feet with a .36 Navy, regards, Mike

there were many design changes to the original gun intended to make the parts easier to machine and require less hand work.
