I worked my regular shift along with my midnight side job last night. When I got home, I noticed that the little lady had taken her db9 from its place in the closet and placed it on the night stand. Perhaps I'm a bad influence.

Now a nice digital gun lockbox on the nightstand would be the perfect Christmas gift for her Fuzz.

Fuzz... perhaps you are a truly good influence . A gun that is not immediately available is not of much use if things happen suddenly.

Pitbull, that's a good idea, now to find one that has rhine stones on it.

Chris, you sit are correct and that's why we had several next to the bed at night.

When I am away from home, my wife keeps a pistol in her nightstand drawer. A flashlight, her cell phone and a pistol it within reach if she needs it.
When I am there at least 3 pistols within reach and a shotgun maybe 5 steps away in a closet.

Before I leave town overnight my wife and I go thru our "safety" drill. I go over what to do if...etc...etc., load the revolver and put it in it's spot and pretty much repeat the things she already knows by heart. She usually rolls her eyes but puts up with me anyway. I know she can handle things and protect the kids if God forbid anything happens. Before we met she hadn't fired a weapon of any type and until we had kids I don't think she really thought too much about real self defense. She actually took to shooting a handgun quickly, surprised both of us! Hope I'm a good influence.

We were married 40+yrs when my wife decided that she needed her ccw and a ccw gun.

Forcing the issue with our spouses is a supremely bad idea

One "Tatic" we have in our home is a few pistols from a K/T P-32 to revolvers are "Out of sight, in our mind". Loaded and hidden and scattered. When we go to bed, or leve the house the go to the gun safe. It requires a few minutes of prep time on my part but better to have them out than to serve as full time safe queens.
I don't think my wife will get her CCW, her health is not the best. When she goes to stores, Mall, etc. I am there with her.

Getting "unhinged" from time to time can be a good thing. It keeps one on top of their game.

My wife keeps a BCM M4, with a Aimpoint M-4s and a surefire 500A, bedside and fully loaded.
