Metal Injection Molded. Some if not all MIM parts are hollow inside and not solid. They are not as strong. |

Had an Operator a couple years ago. One of the most accurate 1911's I ever shot. Didn't seem to be any MIM parts. I did not like the internal locking system which cause a horrible trigger pull so I removed it. |

| Springfield does use MIM parts even in their Custom Shop Pro Model they make for the FBI and other major LE Agencies. Springfield unlike other makers of 1911s' use high quality MIM parts and if it's good enough for the FBI who shoots thousands of rounds it's good enough for me. |

| Yes, Thumb safety, beavertail, slide stop, hammer amd ignition parts are MIM. The TRP is hand assembled in the Pro Shop which I imagine is SA's reasoning to justify the price. I had one and sold it to upgrade to a Rock River Arms which was just over $200 more but completely hand built with a match barrel and best quality parts. While the TRP is a nice gun I just don't feel it's worth the money there asking for them. |

| Check on Dan Wesson 1911's. Worth the money. |

The TRP is not made in the Custom Shop. It is a production line gun that receives more hand fitting than regular production guns. Yes they do contain MIM parts, but as someone has said, they are high quality. |

I could not agree with this more (I am not running down other brands here). The current Dan Wessons are the best kept secret there is. I have custom guns that, these days, would run well in excess of $2000 that are not a bit better than the DW's

| Thanks for all the great information. On Tuesday of this week i was able to trade for a new TRP at a gun shop. With my trade the price was not too much so i bought the TRP. I'm sure the Dan Wesson and Rock River are very good but i phoned the Springfield Custon Shop and talked to a man that i think was 100% honest about the TRP. Also the service from Springfield is reported to be very good. The 1911 forums give the TRP a great recommendations. And last i like it. |
