Anybody had any experiences with this round? I did a search but did not find any past info. I currently have some in my Glock .45 and I may buy a few to "Put back". Thanks

I've shot enough of them to be confident that they will work in my 1911. I have several boxes stashed as back up ammo. The bullets look a lot like the higher priced WW product. (non SXT)

It was tested in the Sig P220 in this thread with the following results:

Winchester USA .45ACP 230 gr. JHP
Velocity: 815 fps
Expansion: 0.614"
Penetration: 19.00"

Thread is here:

http://www.stoppingpower.net/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4225&SearchTerms=.45,230,Winchester

I keep a case (1,000) of Winchester USA .45 230 JHPs as "back up" loads to my favored .45 ACP Hornady 230 gr. +P XTP JHPs for my USP45.

Over my chronograph, the Winchester USA .45 JHP gives me an average velocity of 865 fps from the barrel (4.41"/112mm) of my USP45.

In my experience, it is good stuff, clean burning and acceptably accurate.

Based on anecdotes. information on this site, and the more-than-satisfactory accuracy out of my Springfield Champion, I was eagerly looking forward to using it as regular carry ammo. Sadly, the gun just won't feed it reliably, so I went with Golden Saber. If the gun would function with the WWB, I'd use it in a heartbeat. Ace

In his book, The Gun Digest Book of Concealed Carry, Mas Ayoob states the .45 WWB JHP is "a street-proven choice." Additionally, he states that the round used to be sold in boxes labeled "For Law Enforcement Only."

I have not shot anything with the factory load but I have shot a good bit of stuff with the same bullet handloaded to about 900 fps.

Worked good on everything I shot with it. It expands to about .80 at that speed but of course it depends on exactly what the bullet hits and passes through inside.

This is currently the only .45 hollowpoint I can even find locally (Walmart). I've been shooting some in my two 1911s to test reliability and there's been no issues yet, making it my new carry load for them. Good to know its a decent enough round.

Oh, one other thing, that bullet is super accurate. Apparently the force it takes to make that cavernous HP makes the base very square.

It is much more accurate than a conventional FMJ round nose.

I took my dog's Vet out and taught him the CHL class. He was shooting a S&W 4506, and shot this round, at my suggestion, it was very accurate, and fed in his pistol without any problems. I told him he was well armed in the rural hill country, cattle farm he works cattle on the weekends.

Nice to know what is responsible for the effect. Never had a bad box of the stuff and now I know why.

Perhaps it is time to secure another case of it. Y'know.....for when the zombies strike.

I just had a thought--I bet they'd work fine in my S&W645. Think I'll get some and try. Not real vital to the thread, I just wanted to share..... Ace

I've not found any 45 pistol that feed ball 100% including my 1911s' that the Winchester White Box 230 gr. JHPs' didn't work as well in. Great round at a good price. It may not have the flash retardant, sealed nickel cases some higher price ammo has, but it's my carry round.

That has also been my experience. Same is true of Remington JHP and Golden Saber. I cannot say the same for Speer Gold Dots though I like the bullet a lot. Nor can I say the same for the Ranger line thought they work fine in most of my guns and that is my carry load.
