It's the Military, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the press. It's the Military, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech. It's the Military, not the politicians that ensures our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It's the Military who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag.

"Our obligations to our country never cease but with our lives." --John Adams- Letter to Benjamin Rush, 18 April 1808.

"In other words what is needed is a vision rooted in human nature so noble, so attractive that it not only attracts the uncommitted and magnifies the spirit and strength of it's adherents, but also undermines the dedication and determination of any competitors or adversaries." stdatdeacon,

Great quotes from the Founding Fathers. They articulated a vision "so noble, so attractive...". The extent to which our country has lost it's way is amazing.

"...we must emphasize those cultural traditions, previous experiences and unfolding events that build-up harmony and trust, thereby create those implicit bonds that permit us as individuals and as a society, or as an organic whole to shape as well as adapt to the course of events in the world." From "The Strategic Game of ? And ?" by Col. John Boyd

"It is always the small group, the militant minority, that eventually topples the uncaring complacent majority."

- Amil Imani, American Thinker, 11/19/2009

The topic is how the jihadi minority dominate and silence the "moderate" Muslim majority. It applies equally, I believe, to what has happened politically and economically in this country and what *must* happen in order to to reverse that trend.

After many years of being told 'You won't need that / Why would you need that, you're only going to ________________________.

I've decided that when the end of the day comes, I'll then know what I needed to get through the day. If I didn't need to use it, it stayed either in my pocket, in it's belt pouch or in the holster.

"If government relieves us of the responsibility of living by bailing us out, character will atrophy. The welfare state, however good its intentions of creating material equality, can't help but make us dependent. That changes the psychology of society."

Mark,
Not wanting to be argumentative, but that quote is from Claire Wolfe. I you want a real treat, do a search for her on the internet and read more of her observations. She really nails it on a number of issues . . .

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.

"If you don't suck up, you avoid being sucked in and then sucked down."

"Any time a politician begins to think you are in his hip pocket, make sure he knows you are a tack."
