Whenever I come upon a firearms forum caliber war, I recall this comment: "It is the mark of an instructed mind to rest satisfied with the degree of precision which the nature of the subject admits and not to seek exactness when only an approximation of the truth is possible." --Aristotle

"The South is seceding from the North because the two are not homogeneous. They have different instincts, different appetites, different morals, and a different culture.

Anthony Trollope, a British citizen who traveled in the North and South during the early part of the war.

Governor, if I had forseen the use those people designed to make of their victory, there would have been no surrender at Appomattox Court house; no, sir, not by me. Had I forseen these results of subjugation, I would have preferred to die at Appomattox with my brave men, my sword in this right hand.

Robert E. Lee in a private conversation with Governor Stockdale of Texas. August, 1870

Todd,

Thanks. But that rule stood before Job was a pup.

Here's an update.

Never said my current marriage was lousy, though I was in one for 25 years that was, and it was very much so! But all the King's horses, and all the King's men, and everything I tried, couldn't make it work. I have observed the institution, love, money, and life in general for decades, and I keep coming back to my originial incontestable conclusion.

We all can't be Gene Simmons, though I do admire his staying the course on his beliefs. Hes as rich as a monarch. And, by his own admission, "happily unmarried". Funny how one seems to come with the other isn't it? And, for the most part, just the opposite in most cases the other way around!

Just my personal observations.

"Clean UP America! NO B.O.!"- I coined the phrase while perusing a political action site for campaign bumper stickers. Feel free to use it, steal it, whatever.

"This is a design defect, but just because it is designed that way on purpose doesn't make it any less defective."

From "marlinspike" on another board referring to his new Target (EXPENSIVE) Mini-14 ejecting brass 30-35 feet hitting other shooters on the line just like a standard Ranch model. This after numerous recommendations for aftermarket fixes and "Minis just are that way" from others.

"This ole world ain't gonna last past the year 2000, but fortunately I won't be around to see that." My dad, he was incorrect, in both thoughts

After hearing him quote Gen Patton on things, I later heard and came to appreciate a quote from Gen.Omar Bradly.
"They also serve, who stand and wait".

"Children are the Gods opinion that They haven't forgotten us" Unknown

"Chance favors the prepared mind" Louis Pasture

"If a man were to know at the end this days business, er it come, but it suffices, the day will end, and then the end be known. And if we meet again, then we'll smile. And if not, then this parting was well made." Julius Caesar(?) From the movie 'Uncommon Valor'

The Second Amendment is not about duck hunting...It's about our right, all of our right (the citizens) to protect ourselves, from all of you guys (the politicians) up there.
