I just bought a Glock G23 last weekend and have been looking around for some suitable ammo. Found some on the net 50 rounds for $12.69. It is Federal .40 S&W 155 grain Law Enforcement JHP (XM40HB). Does anyone have any info on this cartridge? They also have 135 grain. Seems like a great price if it's good ammo. Thanks for the help.

The book shows the Fed 155 JHP being one of the better stoppers. If it's the same round, that's a heck of a price.

The XM40HB at cheaperthandirt are brass cased and ammoman's P40HST2 155 grain are nickel plated but cost more. $169.00 for 500 vs $126.90 for 500. Brass is fine with me.

Just bought a bunch at Cheaper Than Dirt - thanks for the tip!

I bought 1000 of the 155gr HST and 1000 of the 165gr Tactical, the Tactical was about $100.00. I know what the difference is in these two. I got both of these before the prices went, I paid considerably less for each than the current price shown on the subject load.

Glad I made the move when I did

I just checked ammoman,
.40, HST 155gr, 289.00,

.40, Tactical, 165gr, 425.00!,

the subject ammo, 249.00.

This is all per 1000 rounds.

Thanks mspears. While looking through the CTD .40 selections, I spotted some Federal "White Box" 155 JHP for 10.89 a box of 50. I got 5 boxes to try. Even with tax and shipping adding about $3 a box, I still find that a decent deal. I like the 155 grain .40.

Sounds like everybody's happy. Incidentally, the reason I called it "White Box" was the picture on CTDs website was somewhat washed out, and the word "Classic" on the end flap wasn't visible.

OK:
AMMOMAN;
155gr .40, Classic HiShok, 40SWB-$249.00 per 1000, Says "Classic and HiShok" on the box.

155gr .40, P40HST2-$289.00 per 1000, Says "HST" on the box, Gold box "Premium"

CTD;
155gr .40, XM40SWB-$10.89 per 50, Says "HiShok" on the box, not Classic.

CTD looks like the best price per 1000.

YUP! I wish I'd known that before I bought the more expensive gold box ones ones. :(

They are in a grey box but they have a different shape than the gold box HST's. Same as the original Hydrashok. Seems like a great price!!

Tony,

"CTD;

If you click on the "larger image" button, you'll see the word Classic appear. And Classic is what showed up when it arrived.
