Hi, a friend called an invited me to shoot his new FNs 9L 9mm pistol. He found it for $379 with night sights and 3 17 rnd. magazines. The company shipped his pistol for $20 and his dealer charged $10. It's a striker fired pistol with a nice trigger and good sights. Usually it's ho hum just another 9mm but the quality at the price made me a new fan. We fired over 300 round and had 1 failure to feed and 1 failure to eject. Accuracy was outstanding. We shot a plate with a 2" trap door and it was so accurate it was boring. Results on paper were the same. For around $400 I was impressed, regards, Mike

Hmmm....sounds suspicious. Poor carpenter blaming his tools?

I heard from some of the officers they have had a few accidental discharges where the officer was in no way to blame. They are reportedly going to the Glock 17.

Interesting. Any details?

I understand Baltimore County Police are getting rid of their FN pistols after a lot of problems.

I think they're underappreciated guns. The only issue I had with any of the FN pistols is that the fencing around the magazine release made it hard to push the button in on some models.

Uncle Mike, your experience mirrors mine when shooting a friend's pistol. His is the FNs 9mm with the 4" barrel, but it was very accurate and had me seriously thinking about moving from Glocks.

As an aside, one of the officers at my former department made a one shot stop from 91', side profile through both lungs and heart, using the issued FNs 40caliber pistol. I call that accurate enough.

I bought an FNS 9mm about 2 years ago. Works fine but when I shoot left-handed I can hardly depress the slide release lever on the right side with my left thumb. Seems to be grating against something.
I'm looking to trade it for another Beretta PX4 9mm which is much easier to manipulate with either hand and shoots very well.

Hi, after the 1st magazine, the problem went away, Mike

That failure rate would be unacceptable here.
