Please give me some feedback on night sights. There are ton's out there, I put meprolights on my G23 I used to own, they were ok, but kind of tall.

What does it mean when I see +0, +1 etc listed with the sights?

Gun will be primarily home defense. Anyone have the Aro_tek ghost ring sights?

All my glocks wear Heinie sights or nothing. Some have the straight 8, but I prefer the slant pro. Much quicker for me and the notch and front sight is 1.25 wide. They are tough and take a fair amount of abuse. The mepros I have had in the past had a front sight that was too thick--1.65. I shoot 1.10 front sights on my 1911's. It has a good sight picture and the rear sight is good at not reflecting glare.

Trijicon also offers yelllow or orange dots on the rear sight, that help in distinguishing which is which, quickly. I've used yellow and red rear tritium dots in night matches and they were markedly better than 3 green dots.

3 Dot night sights seem to be "too much of a good thing" in my book. Too much to worry about in dim light, fast moving conditions. I agree on either front sight only, or using a Sharpie or paint over the rear night sights. Sharpie is pretty slick in that it dulls them.. they are still there but the front sight now is brightest and draws the focus.

I picked up a g19 a few weeks back and am debating between night sight on front with black rear or Heine straight eights. I have 3 dot night sights on a few of my guns now and don't really care for them too much. It hard for me to get them lined up quickly. Maybe a wider rear notch would help.

Very nice sights. I also like the TFO's.

mepros for standard 3 dot. I did have alot of success (in practice and classes) with the AO big dot sights (standard nite sight).

I have tried most of 'em over the years and the only sights I buy these days for a Glock are the Sevigny Carry Sights by Warren Tactical. I use the tritium front with just a plain rear sight.

I had Tru Glo put on three of my Glocks. I had two failures out of three. The company offers a very short warranty. My dealer replaced them for me at his own expense. He has stopped handling them and I will replace mine with something else as soon as these fail. I have no confidence in their durability but they are very bright as long as they are working. The local cop shop no longer recommends them.
The good dealer was Chris Gillespie at Markeley's Indoor Range in Watsonville, CA.

had Mark turn the rear sight around on my G17 so there's only one white object out there.

Another vote for Tru-Glo's Tritium Fiber Optic sights.
Have them on ALL our family Glocks, they are extemely bright and they work even for my eyes. Had them on my Springfield XDs as well.

I like the Heinie Straight 8 Night Sights. I just dot the dot which is quicker for me than trying to line up three dots.

+1 on the TruGlo TFO tritium fiber optic: have them on my G17 and love them.

I currently have XS 24/7 Big Dots on all my Glocks.

I have Ameriglo Operator night sights on my G23 and like them. The front sight is slightly narrower and the rear opening slightly wider with the front white outline larger than normal. The rear sights don't have a white outline and the combination seems to draw the eyes to the front sight easier.

I just took my calipers to the Mepro NS on my G19 and the Glock Factory NS on my G23 - they were identical in height, the rear sight "notch" is identical, and the front sight width is identical. The Mepros "base" is narrower, though, so there's a bit of an optical illusion going on making them look taller because they're look a little "skinny" in the dovetail...

I have Mepro's on my G19's and my G26. All of my sights are over the 10 year mark, yet that are still going. I can tell that they are a little dimmer than when they are new, but plenty powerful enough to do the job.

Mepros on my Kimber are brighter than the Trijicons on my Glock and two Sigs. To the point where I wonder if the Mepros could be *too* bright - i.e. visible to others in the dark. Oh well, they'll fade in time.

When I sent my G19 slide to Trijicon for replacement of the old lamps, service and turnaround time were excellent.

Can anyone comment on the claim that Mepros are more fragile? I've heard that, but have seen no evidence to date.

I'm a big believer in night sights. Flashlights are bullet magnets the instant you turn them on and for as long as they stay on. My training was for one brief flash to locate/ID the suspected target; *MOVE*; and from there on to pit my low light shooting ability and equipment against the other guy's; flashing only as necessary keep the OODA loop running.

at the distances I rely on a handgun if I index on the front sight people get perforated.

Why is that? Just curious.

My Glock 21 came with night sights and I blacked out the rear sight with a black out the rear sights with a black marker. It makes the front sight eaiser to find for me. But I can still line up the rear sights if I have time.

Try TruGlo TFO.

I've got night sights on my Glock 26 and 30SF-did the 26 for customers when we had the range so they could actually try before before buying-we would always install them for free if they bought them from us. The 30 SF were a set we had left over when we closed our operations.

if I was going to put nigth sights on my G17 or Beretta PX4 it would be front sight only.
